Germanic hairpin, 2nd century, bronze

Product description

This early Germanic hairpin is based on a historical original from the 2nd century AD. Similar spiral motifs can already be found in Nordic hairpins bronze Age (ca. 1700-500 BC).

Germanic and other Indo-European peoples attached great importance to jewelry and appearance: beauty stood for cosmic order. The pin is hand-engraved with stylized motifs that also occur in the Hallstatt culture.

Please note: For thick hair, do not force all the hair strands into the pin — the needle may break when cutting or hanging. Made from fine jewelery bronze, no casting.
