Product description

The teller beret, a flat, round beret with a soft crown, was one of the most commonly worn headgear in Germany and beyond in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. From merchants to landsknechts and from scholars to noblemen: almost everyone wore a variant of this beret, often with an elegant plume attached to it. This beret recreates that familiar shape in a handmade version.

The outside is made of velvet, with a full lining of cotton for a soft and breathable wearing experience. The round, slightly curved crown is sturdy enough to retain its shape, but remains comfortable on the head. At the time, a simple cap or coif was often worn under a beret like this; in some historical images, including Lucas Cranach the Elder, women also wore this type headgear. Colour: red.

This beret is available in sizes S up to and including XL and is ideal for re-enactment, LARP and historical costumes from the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance.
