Product description

These medieval turn shoes are inspired by archaeological finds from, among other places, Schleswig, and are suitable for the period between the 10th and 14th centuries. They are entirely handmade and crafted from natural, vegetable-tanned cowhide. Both the upper and the sole are left untreated, giving them an authentic appearance. The design features four leather straps that wrap around the foot, providing not only a secure fit but also extra stability – even during more demanding activities such as reenactment or combat demonstrations. The high shaft can be worn straight up or folded down for a different look.

As is typical for turnshoes, the leather is sewn together inside out and then turned right side out, without the use of any glue. This traditional construction method results in a sturdy and durable shoe, with the seams well protected on the inside. The shoes are pre-treated, giving the leather a beautiful antique finish and better resistance to moisture, for example during wet autumn events. Only the sole still needs to be treated separately for optimal water resistance. In short, a historically accurate and practical choice of footwear for medieval reenactment.
