This medieval headscarf is based on images from the 13th century richly illuminated manuscript the Maciejowski Bible (also known as the Morgan Bible). The manuscript was commissioned by King Louis IX of France. The manuscript is like a photo from a distant medieval past and offers a lot of insight into the clothing and armor of this time.
Throughout history, headscarves were worn by married women as a status symbol. Only in modern times has the wearing of headscarves by women in the West fallen into disuse.
The Birgitta's cap can be used as basic to pin on a veil and neckerchief.
