Product description
Cold Steel’s MAA (Man At Arms) Grosses Messer is designed with martial arts and cutting tests in mind. According to the Elmslie typology, this messer is a Type 3d: weapons in this category were mainly used in the 15th century and are characterized by the short “claw” shape at the tip of the blade. Messers of this length were very popular as combat weapons and were often used by the famous Landsknechte.
This sword cuts through even the thickest obstacles and is razor-sharp. The blunt back edge can be used to parry enemy weapons, as depicted in Hans Talhoffer’s Fechtbuch.
The black blade of this messer is made from 1055 carbon steel, and the grip is made of wood. This grosses Messer measures 107.3 cm in total length, with a blade length of 81.3 cm, and weighs 2,053 grams. It comes with a leather scabbard.
