14th and 15th century armourers left an opening at the armpit, between the cuirass and the pauldrons. From the early 14th century onwards, mail sleeves and voiders were therefore developed. The voiders ensure that you don't need to wear a full mail haubergeon under your armour to avoid these weak spots. These voiders are based on 15th century depictions.
These voiders can be attached to the gambeson or arming jacket. You can also provide them with a textile inlay so you can put them on loosely over the arming jacket.
