Recommended combination
Product description
Half gauntlets or Demi-gaunts are the first type of plate armor gauntlets and were used from the second half of the 14th century onwards. These gauntlets were worn in combination with leather gloves or mail gauntlets.
Demi-gaunts were relatively inexpensive and offered excellent protection to the most vulnerable parts of the body. Therefore, they were worn by all classes. Furthermore, the advantage of demi-gaunts is that they are lighter than full plate armor gauntlets and offer more freedom of movement. They were very popular and were worn until the 15th century.
These replica half gauntlets are based on an early 15th-century original. The original is now part of the collection of the National Museum in Nuremberg.
These half gauntlets are made with a steel thickness of 1.6 mm. They are supplied exclusively without leather gloves. These can be ordered separately in various styles and thicknesses. These gauntlets are made with re-enactment in mind.
