Product description

This one fibula with four horse heads, also called tetraskelionfibula named after its four arms, dates from the period 275-350 AD. This type was especially popular with the auxiliary troops of the Roman cavalry in the Balkans and may have served as a military rank distinction or had religious significance in a horse cult.

Performed in bronze, with a size of 3.8 x 3.8 cm. There is a sturdy needle construction on the back.

Fibula's of this type have mainly been found around Novi Banovci in the Danube region, where Roman cavalry units were stationed. An authentic addition to your Roman reenactment kit.
