Even the Greeks and Romans considered a well-groomed appearance a sign of prestige, and beard care was done with a razor like this. The handle is cast in bronze according to the lost-wax method and shows a mythological mixed creature of lion and eagle -- a motif that also appeared on the helmets of gladiators and Thraks at the time. Because each mold is only used once, each specimen is unique.
The blade is from iron, cold forged and ground. Unlike the original, this blade is not stainless -- it remains usable with the occasional sharpening stone.
