This mantle pin is a detailed replica of the wheel needle type 'Unterbimbach', dating from the early middlebronze Age, around 1500 BC. Rad needles were a widespread clothing pin from the bronze Age and are best known as grave goods from burial mounds in Central Europe and France.
Characteristic is the construction with an inner and an outer ring that are connected by spokes, supplemented with a round eye. This pin was used to make a cloak to close, or in pairs to create a dress to secure. In men the needle was usually worn loosely in the middle of the chest, in women often in pairs below the collarbone.
Performed in bronze and with a length of 15 cm, an authentic accessory for those who bronze Age wants to portray within re-enactment of living history.
