In the Middle Ages, leather balls had been popular for centuries toys. They were made by hand and filled with various materials. Children entertained themselves with it as a pastime, and from the 13th century the ball maker was even a recognized professional position.
This medieval ball is handmade from pull-up leather (greasy leather), vegetable tanned for an authentic, sustainable result. Pull up leather quickly develops a beautiful patina that gives each ball a unique, rustic look. Signs of use such as light scratches enhance this attractive 'used' effect — just like with original medieval objects.
The ball consists of four leather pieces that are held together by a robust seam. It is firmly padded and has no jumping power, but is excellent for juggling. Because it is made entirely by hand, the diameter may differ slightly from that stated size — each copy is unique. Leather is a natural product; slight color differences are characteristic.
