Product description
The gladius is the weapon with which Roman legionnaires conquered much of the world. There are different types of gladii, named after their place of origin. This example is of the Mainz type, the first specimens of which were found in the German city of the same name. It was a double-edged sword primarily designed for thrusting.
This luxury gladius is an acquisition for collectors of classical weapons and for Roman re-enactors. It is not based on a specific original gladius, but on various originals from the first century AD. This replica features a blade crafted from 9260 steel and a grip of bone and wood with a screwed pommel. The gladius is supplied including a beautiful luxury red leather scabbard decorated with brass fittings, with a decoration in the form of a palmette visible at the bottom. This is an ornament in the form of stylized palm leaves, which has appeared since the second millennium BC. The fittings also have brass rings, so you can hang it on your belt.
