Product description
This gleaming stainless steel pendant displays the silhouette of a boar, an animal closely linked to fertility and protection in Norse mythology.
The boar was the animal of both Freyr and Freyja: Freyr rode the golden boar Gullinbursti, while Freyja's mount was the boar Hildisvíni. During the midwinter celebration Yule, the boar was considered a sacrificial animal over which oaths were sworn for the new year, a tradition that today's Christmas ham still faintly echoes.
An atmospheric decoration for the Christmas tree or interior during the dark winter months, and an original gift for those who love Norse symbolism and pagan Yule traditions.
