Product description

This sword is based on a late 10th - early 11th century original found in Vammala in Finland. The original is now part of the collection of the National Museum of Finland in Helsinki. It is classified as an Oakeshott type Xa, a Frankish type sword that remained popular well into the 13th century. The blade of the original contains the inscription +NSOMEFECIT+, of which three other swords have been found in Finland.

This sword was used by the late Vikings, during the Norman conquest of England and during the early Crusades. This sword is semi sharp and has a blade made of spring steel 9260. It is tempered and has a hardness of approximately 48 HRC.
