This belt buckle and belt end are made after a symbol frequently used in Germanic and Viking culture. The horned warrior holding two spears represents Odin or Wodan. Odin is known as the 'spear god'. The warrior in the image is naked except for his belt. He wears a horned headdress, with the horns possibly tied to the front of his head. This represents the warband or Indo-European kóryos. The image on this belt buckle possibly signifies the ritual associated with the tradition of warbands in Germanic and Viking culture. This belt fitting is handmade using the lost wax casting method.
