Helmet Inlay

What is a helmet inlay?

Most helmets come with a helmet inlay made of textile or leather. This inlay can be glued or riveted to the inside of the helmet.

The leather inlay usually consists of a spider-web-shaped net or parachute net that's adjustable to size. It's important to prevent the leather from drying out, otherwise it can crack. You can use Ballistol anti-rustspray or leather oil for this.

Helmet inlay pieces can be replaced when needed.

First remove the old helmet inlay.

If the inlay is glued, apply glue to the same spots where the original inlay was glued and place the new inlay in the helmet.

If the inlay is riveted, place the new inlay in the helmet. Secure the inlay again with new rivets at the same points where the old inlay was attached. Close the rivets by attaching the closing ring/stamp and riveting the tip shut.
