We Are #HistoryRebels

This is the tagline of Celtic WebMerchant. But what exactly are History Rebels?

We see History Rebels as free thinkers, out of the box thinkers. People who want to be the way they are, not conditioned by the dogmas of modern society. People who value their heritage, nature and the way their ancestors lived. On the one hand, as a History Rebel you enjoy the good things that modern society has to offer, but at the same time you long for a slower way of living. You want to bridge the gap between past and present.

If you Google History Rebels, you'll find rebels from the past. Names like Sir William Wallace, Joan D'Arc, Robin Hood, Willem Tijl, Galileo Galilei, Erik the Red. What do these heroes have in common with modern History Rebels? They thought against the grain in the time period they lived in. But even today, such rebels are alive and well. Maybe there are actually more rebels nowadays than in all other centuries combined. Why?

Knowledge is no longer a tool of power for the bourgeoisie. With the advent of the internet and the development of the smartphone, knowledge is not only available to everyone, you can also access it directly. This means you no longer have to believe everything others tell you, but can do your own research. History Rebels stands for free thinking based on personal research. Of course, this is easier in a society where knowledge is freely accessible. As a History Rebel, you shape your life the way you want with knowledge of the present, the past and your own role in it.

How do you put this into practice in your own life?

Try not to get swept up in the pressure and the 'you must do everything'. There's nothing wrong with taking a step back from society's expectations in your free time and enjoying the little things that make life special. Take a walk in nature, visit events and festivals, read a nice book about history or another subject that helps you develop yourself. Spend one-on-one time with good friends. Write a (fantasy) story, or build an entire world. Rediscover the history of life in Scandinavia and Scotland. Work out a design you've had in your head for a long time. And most importantly, dare to say 'no' to others. Wear the clothes you want, shape your relationship the way it works best for you, spend time on the hobbies you choose for yourself.

As a History Rebel you live on your own terms with core values like this: more contact with nature, more time outdoors, attention to stories, together with friends, tradition, creativity, fantasy and a slower life with an eye for what really matters.

Many rebels work at Celtic WebMerchant too! Together we've created a collection where you'll find what you need for your life path as a History Rebel.
