Product description
This size skimmer is forged from iron and fitted with a sturdy ash wood handle, a practical tool for the historical camp kitchen.
Skimmers of this type have been found among other places in excavations in London from the 15th century, although they were used from the 14th to the 17th century. Traditionally they served to skim foam from boiling liquids, but the skimmer is equally well suited for blanching vegetables or fishing food out of the pan.
A rustic addition to the camp kitchen for re-enactment from the late medieval to early modern period. Wash the skimmer thoroughly before using it for the first time; it is not suitable for direct food contact.
