In the fantasy world, there are many fantasy races and sub-races. To put together your costume and thus your character, it's handy to have an overview of the most common different races. Here's a list you can work from to choose a costume for your ideal character. When choosing a race, it's advisable to keep in mind whether you're going to use make-up and body prosthetics These can be a great addition to your character, but they require extra skills and can sometimes be tricky to wear all day at an event, for example.
Human
Humans are the ordinary inhabitants of most worlds. Through their ingenuity and adaptability, they can live anywhere and anytime. They make for enthusiastic adventurers, although they rarely live long enough to see the results of their actions.
Dwarf

Dwarves are underground beings who dedicate themselves to warfare and craftsmanship. Through their toughness, they can thrive in harsh conditions.
Elf

Elves are elegant beings with a strong bond to the feywild, a fairy realm of ancient forests and strange, magical creatures.
Gnome
Gnomes are mysterious little beings with an affinity for technology and illusionary magic. Most gnome societies prefer to remain hidden from humans, afraid that their mysterious secrets will fall into the wrong hands.
Half Elf
Half-elves are the children of elves and humans. They represent a rare bridge between the worlds of both races, often beloved or outcasted by both.

Tiefling
Tieflings are the marked descendants of those who have made a pact with a devilish entity. They are confronted with prejudice and discrimination by most human societies because of their devilish appearance, and many do not fully embrace the adventurous life by their choice.
Bugbear
Bugbears are the biggest, strongest, and hairiest of all goblinoids and are often leaders of the clans and tribes of their smaller cousins. Most fearsome tribes value strength and mindless violence, although some are friendlier and more peaceful than others.
Shifters
Shifters, also known as the weretouched, are the descendants of humans and lycanthropes with the ability to partially transform into a bestial form. For a short time, they can draw from their original heritage, transforming parts of their body and enhancing their abilities.
Warforged
Warforged are constructs with a humanoid form and possess free will through ancient magic. They were originally built as war weapons centuries ago, but now they must find their own meaning in the world.
Orc
Orcs (and Half-orcs) are fierce beings, heavier and larger than humans, with pig-like faces and tusks. Many orc tribes value strength and ritual violence, pray to dark gods, and often cause conflicts with other humanoid societies. Other tribes learned to live peacefully alongside humans, from which most half-orcs descend.

Dragonborn
Dragonborn is a unique people, created by draconic gods to be their servants. Because they are partly humanoid and partly dragon, they can use their elemental breath as a weapon, just like their winged cousins.
