Every story and game has NPCs (non-player characters). In live-action role-playing (LARP), fantasy games and role playing games like D&D, popular non-player characters or NPCs appear. They guide players in a certain direction, give quests or complete the game. Here's an overview of the most common non-player characters. In LARP, these characters are played by people, usually from the organization. NPCs are also perfect to use as inspiration for your own costume!
Tavern Keepers
These NPCs often run taverns, inns or other gathering places where players can communicate, gather information or buy supplies.

Quest Givers
These NPCs offer players missions, tasks or quests they can undertake during the LARP. They can be anything, from wise sages to mysterious figures with important information.
Merchants
NPCs who sell various goods, equipment and items to players. They can have specialized wares, depending on the LARP setting, such as blacksmiths, apothecaries or sellers of magical items.
Townsfolk/Villagers
These NPCs populate the game world and represent the ordinary people of a village or city. They can provide atmosphere, opportunities for role-playing or small quests.

Faction Leaders
NPCs who represent leaders of various factions, guilds or organizations within the LARP world. They can provide players with guidance, alliances or missions related to their specific faction.
Monsters and Creatures
NPCs that portray various creatures, beasts or monsters that players may encounter during their adventures. These NPCs can range from simple foot soldiers to powerful bosses.
Guards and Enforcers
NPCs who act as protectors of important locations, such as town guards, palace guards or faction enforcers. They can enforce rules, initiate combat encounters or serve as quest obstacles.
Mysterious Figures
NPCs with hidden motives or secrets, who often play a central role in the LARP storyline. They can be mentors, seers or even antagonists, adding intrigue and mystery to the game.
