Product description
This sword is an early Viking sword type, modeled after an 8th-century original found in Norway. Viking swords of this era featured large pommels, often extending into a triangular shape.
It is classified as a Petersen Type A. Smiths forged swords of this type during the second half of the 8th century AD as a direct successor to the older Merovingian spatha, widely used during the Vendel period. The original dates to a time when Viking raids were intensifying, particularly in the British Isles, Ireland, and the Baltic region.
The sword measures 90 cm in length with a hardwood grip. The blade is made from carbon steel, and the sword includes a leather scabbard.
