Product description
A wonderful accessory for Roman re-enactment and for crafting your own (leather) armor. For the Romans, a phalera was similar to a medal or trophy. The army awarded these round discs to soldiers who distinguished themselves in battle. Made from silver, bronze, or gold, the discs were worn on leather armor during military parades. Veterans wearing armor covered in Phalerae commanded great respect. This large phalera features the head of Medusa, one of the 3 Gorgons in Greek mythology. Thanks to its large size, it works best worn at the center of a suit of armor.
