Product description
The chainmail coif appeared at least as early as the 11th century AD. Soldiers wore chainmail coifs either on their own or beneath a helmet. Many depictions, such as those in the Morgan Bible from 1250, show the coif fitting snugly around the head. Leather laces at the top improved the fit, while additional laces could fasten the lower edge to the gambeson or hauberk, keeping the coif securely in place. For added comfort, wear a textile cap or arming cap underneath.
Made from 1,8 mm wide flat rings with an inner diameter of 8 mm, woven in a four-in-one pattern and riveted with round rivets. It weighs about 2,8 kg.
