This cuirass is based on the well-known late 14th-century armor from the collection of Churburg Castle. Armor pieces in this style were used throughout Europe from the late 14th to the early 15th century. This style clearly marks a transition between the early 14th-century coat of plates and the fully developed plate armor.

In the early 14th century, plate armor developed as an addition and reinforcement to chainmail by adding separate plates. With the emergence of the Churburg style, it became the central element of body protection.

Constructed from multiple pieces, the cuirass was often paired with bascinets — such as the pig-faced bascinet or the klappvisier bascinet — though the kettle hat also remained popular. By this period, soldiers wore full arm and leg armor, and hourglass gauntlets or half gauntlets (demi-gauntlets) were preferred. Wear a chainmail haubergeon beneath armor of this style. The V-shaped plates on the chest add protection against upward strikes aimed at the face.

At 1.6 mm steel thickness, the breastplate is suitable for reenactment combat. Its construction also makes it easy to adjust for your size.
