Product description
This type of axehead is classified as Petersen type I. The blad is thicker, shorter and less sharp than type H. Axes of this type were highly functional and were likely originally developed for woodworking; they were in use from approximately 900 to 1000 AD.
This replica features a simple, functional design with a tightly curved blad, inspired by finds from Scandinavia. The axe head is hand-forged steel and has a rustic surface with visible forging marks. The dark wood handle is comfortable to hold and can be replaced if needed.
The axe is semi sharp (partially sharpened) and suitable as decoration, for costume and re-enactment or as a tool in the camp; if you want to use it as a tool, sharpen the edge further. Not suitable for combat or stage combat.
