Product description
This Viking spectacle helm from the Vendel period with chainmail is 1.6 mm thick and suitable for re-enactment battles. Helmets like this were worn between 550 and 1066 and is a beautiful early medieval model based on an original from Valsgarde, Sweden. Valsgarde was only 3 km from Gamla Uppsala, the old center of Swedish kings and pagan belief in Sweden. The helm consists of steel plates that are fastened together with steel strips, or Spangen. The helm offers good protection to the nose, eyebrows, head and neck. The chainmail is unrivetted and the rings have a diameter of 8 mm. The inside of the helm is lined with cotton padding, which you can adjust to fit. You can secure the helm with the leather chin strap.
