Product description
This is not a replica, but an own design in the characteristic La Tène art style, with entwined mythical animals that end in swan necks. What exactly waterfowl symbolized is not entirely clear, but until the Early Middle Ages they were widely venerated within Proto-Indo-European paganism; parts of waterfowl have been recovered as grave goods from religious specialists from both the bronze Age like the Viking Age. The swan also plays a major role in Irish mythology: in the story of the Children of Lir becomes four children turned into swans by a jealous stepmother and doomed to wander for 900 years, while in the saga of Cú Chulainn the goddess Fand travels to Ireland in swan form.
Performed in bronze, with a total length of approx. 43 cm.
