Germanic bow fibula Nordendorf I, with runic inscription, silvered bronze

Product description

This bow fibula is the replica of a Germanic robe pin from the middle or last third of the 6th century, found in 1843 during railway works in Nordendorf, Bavaria, in an Alemannic or Frankish women's grave. The silver, ormolu-plated original is in the Roman Museum in Augsburg.

Performed in silvered bronze, with a size of 13 x 7 x 5 cm, almost equal to the original. Characteristic are the rectangular head plate, the semicircular base with a human face and the animal heads on either side.

On the back it bears the fibula a runic inscription with the god names Wodan and Donar, and possibly Loki - one of the earliest mentions of these Germanic gods. A special addition to your equipment for reenactment from the early Middle Ages.
