Product description
This medieval coin pendant features a penny showing the portrait of William I (William the Conqueror) on the obverse and a cross with the word PAXS ('peace') on the reverse. In the Middle Ages, coins were struck by hand: a piece of silver was placed between two iron dies, then a firm hammer blow shaped the coin.
William I became King of England after his victory over King Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It was a violent time of wars, crusades and, later, the devastating Black Death.
The pendant is cast from lead-free tin and comes on a waxed cord. An atmospheric piece of jewelry for your medieval reenactment, your collection or as a gift.
