Product description
The mandilion was a type of cloak or loose outer garment worn from the end of the 16th century onwards, including by soldiers. Mandilions came in various designs: some were sleeveless, while others were fitted with loose or hanging sleeves. A characteristic feature was the ability to wear the garment over one shoulder, leaving the sword arm free. This way of wearing it even became a fashion trend at the end of the 16th century.
This cloak is based on 17th century originals that can be seen, for example, in paintings by Dutch and French masters. It is perfect for 17th century re-enactment or LARP when portraying a musketeer, nobleman, wealthy merchant, etc. from northwestern Europe. The fabric is approximately hip-length and the cloak can be fastened with long cords.
