The justaucorps emerged in the second half of the seventeenth century and became a permanent part of the men's wardrobe during the eighteenth century. The justaucorps developed from the casaque, a spacious traveling coat, into a more tightly cut jacket with a continuous button closure from neck to hem — hence the name, which means 'just around the body'. This garment later formed the basic for the frak and the modern three-piece suit.
This justaucorps is made of sturdy woolen fabric with a lining cotton, which gives a neat appearance that remains comfortable even when worn for long periods of time. The cut is inspired by traditional officer jackets: slightly shorter at the front, extended at the back, with clear, structured lines. Gold-colored piping on collar, front panel and cuffs emphasizes the maritime appearance. The jacket is available in dark blue.
