Product description

Beginning in the early 15th century, complete armour sets were produced in Northern Italy. These are known as Milanese armour. This style was worn throughout Europe and was therefore not region-specific. The Milanese armour style is recognizable by the size, round and undecorated forms of the armour plates. The sallet, armet and barbute were worn as helmets. A complete chainmail shirt was worn under a Milanese armour. Milanese armour components often served as complete armour, but sometimes only individual pieces were worn.

This arm harness is based on historical originals in the Milanese style. Arm harness such as this forms part of the Churburg S18 armour, among others. Armour like this was worn throughout Europe between 1390 and 1450, but comparable armour was even worn until the 16th century. This armour is 1.6 mm thick and suitable for reenactment.
