The hangeroc, also called apron dress, was worn from the 8th century and was a characteristic part of the costume of Viking women. Presumably a further development of the peplos-like dresses from the Germanic period, the hangeroc was closed with turtle brooches, between which metal chains or strings of beads were often worn. The quality of the brooches and the pendant itself said something about the social position of the wearer.

This hangeroc Annik is made of 100% wool with a diamond twill weave in brown tones. The hem and shoulder straps are finished with a felted, mixed blue wool blend, and a fine embroidery along the hem completes the design. Thanks to the side slits, the dress can easily be worn over a slip dress.

In combination with turtle brooches, a belt and matching accessories, this hangeroc is an authentic part of the Viking outfit for re-enactment and living history.
