A hauberk is a chainmail shirt with long sleeves that reaches halfway down the thigh. Even when plate armor set the tone in the late medieval period and the 16th century, chainmail remained in use: as a full shirt for foot soldiers and mercenaries, or as protection in places where plates could not reach.
This hauberk is made from flat rings of mild steel, with a diameter of 9 mm. They are riveted with round rivets in the classic 4-in-1 pattern. At the front it opens like a jacket, and you close it with a belt and buckles of vegetable-tanned full-grain leather. A hand-stitched leather edge along the seams gives it a rich, refined appearance.
Thanks to the riveted rings, this shirt is sturdy enough for re-enactment, LARP combat and performances. Wear a gambeson underneath for more comfort and protection. Keep in mind the weight: approximately 7 kg in size S to approximately 16 kg in size XXXL.
