The timeline filter is composed of products that:
are a replica of historical originals, or
are based as accurately as possible on original finds from the relevant period.
This means the filter does not contain articles that:
are only historically inspired,
have a clearly fantasy character,
contain unrivetted chainmail.
Flexibility in materials
While the design must be historically correct, the filter is flexible with materials used.
This means:
Cotton clothing is allowed, as long as the model and cut match historical examples.
Blend fabrics can be included when they visually and functionally match the original.
For chainmail, only riveted types are shown.
This flexibility is intended to keep historical accuracy practical and accessible.
How the timeline filter selects
The timeline filter shows only articles that:
are direct replicas, or
are demonstrably accurate based on historical originals.
All other articles are placed in a separate filter category "Historically Inspired & Fantasy". This category has a looser historical approach and is not intended as strictly historically accurate.
Multiple periods possible
Some clothing items, weapons or equipment pieces were used over multiple centuries.
Therefore, it is possible that an article:
is visible in multiple timeline periods,
is historically correct for more than one filter value.
This reflects actual historical use.
