The tunic is an essential and gender neutral part of fashion from Antiquity to modern times. However, their design and meanings often changed throughout history.

In some eras, the length of the tunic designated the social status of the wearer. In Ancient Rome, the tunic was worn airy and simple with a basic design. The Vikings and Germanic people wore their tunic less airy, with an undertunic, long sleeves, trousers and leg wrappings against the cold.

Tunics like this were worn throughout the medieval period.

Add extra room to this for a comfortable fit.: Normal fit: add 8–12 cm to your chest circumference. Loose fit / broad shoulders: add 12–19 cm to your chest circumference. Compare the result with the size chart and choose the size whose chest measurement is equal to or greater than your calculated size. Example: If your chest circumference is 100 cm and you want a normal fit, add about 10 cm of extra room. This gives you approximately 110 cm. Then choose the size whose chest measurement in the size chart is at least 110 cm.
