Product description
The waistcoat became an important part of European men's clothing from the second half of the 17th century onwards. It was worn over the shirt and under the justaucorps and together with the trousers formed a three-piece suit. The earliest waistcoats were long, had a high closure and could even be provided with sleeves. During the 18th century they became increasingly shorter and eventually were mostly sleeveless.
Fletcher is inspired by these early waistcoats, with a high closure and a long row of buttons on the front. However, the model is considerably shorter than historical waistcoats from the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It is therefore primarily a historically inspired interpretation, suitable for seafaring, pirate and fantasy outfits, among others.
The Fletcher waistcoat is made in a typical Burda-Cut. The waistcoat is short and sleeveless, making it possible to comfortably wear a shirt underneath. With its brass buttons, the waistcoat can be worn both open and closed. Cuts at the sides provide mobility, and the width of the waistcoat can be adjusted by means of a band on the back. The pockets on the front are intended as decoration. This waistcoat is suitable for any character of a pirate or seafarer or your own LARP fantasy character. It can also be nicely combined with other shirts that we sell.
