Product description
The justaucorps emerged in the second half of the 17th century and grew into an important part of the European men's wardrobe in the 18th century. The long coat was worn over a shirt and waistcoat and, together with knee breeches, formed the characteristic three-piece men's fashion of this period.
In the first half of the 18th century, the silhouette of the justaucorps changed. The coat became more fitted and the skirts gained more volume, while the front increasingly fell open to reveal the waistcoat beneath. Especially in the first half of the 18th century, this type of long coat was characteristic of men's fashion and aligns well with clothing from the Golden Age of Piracy.
This justaucorps features a fitted cut and is closed at the front with elegant buttons. The inset at the back provides freedom of movement, and the wide sleeves offer plenty of room for a pirate shirt to be worn underneath.
