Product description
From the early 14th century, great helms became more conical in shape. This was to deflect lance blows and thrusts away from the head. The impact would not land directly on the head. This type of helmet is also called the sugar loaf, because of its shape. In Spanish it is called the helmet of Zaragoza, because it was first introduced on the Iberian Peninsula there. Helmets like this remained in use throughout Europe until the end of the 14th century.
This specimen has an extra sturdy top of 2mm thick steel and the cross is also 2 mm thick. The rest is made of 1.6 mm steel. It is suitable for a maximum head circumference of 62 cm.
