Product description
The Pannonian hat (pileus pannonicus) was a cylindrical, flatly finished headgear made of felt, fur or leather. From the late 3rd century this type of headgear was worn by the Roman army and remained in use until the 6th century. It was worn among others by lightly armed and free-service soldiers and by workers. Later the hat also remained popular in Europe and appears in the clothing of Gauls and Franks, and during the Merovingian and Carolingian period.
The hat is made of wool felt and not further treated, so the shape can be adjusted as desired.
This hat is made from 100% wool felt in the colour black. By cutting, bending, dampening and pressing the felt, you bring the hat into the desired shape; in the original round shape with high rim it can also be worn.
Suitable for re-enactment, LARP and cosplay, and to be worn as a costume accessory in daily use.
