This burgonet is a replica of one of the most commonly used cavalry helmets from the English Civil War (1642–1649). Burgonets like this were worn by cavalry across Europe from the second half of the 16th century. They were popular among the Polish Winged Hussars and Swiss infantry mercenaries. This type of helmet was used by both the English Roundheads and Cavaliers during the British Civil War.

On the British Isles, this helmet earned the nickname “Lobster Pot.” Unlike its predecessors, it provides an optimal field of vision, protected by a visor consisting of three bars. In addition, it features a neck guard made from several plates. This helmet comes with a liner and chin strap. If you want to wear extra padded cushioning, measure your head circumference while wearing it. The padded liner already attached inside the helmet is usually sufficient. To create more space inside the helmet, the liner can be removed.
