Product description
In the second half of the 17th century, European men's fashion changed dramatically. The doublet gradually gave way to the three-piece suit, consisting of trousers, waistcoat and long justaucorps. The waistcoat was worn over the shirt and under the justaucorps. Early examples were long and often richly decorated, while in the 18th century shorter and simpler forms also appeared.
This sailor's vest is a historically inspired interpretation of simple sleeveless vests from this period. The short and practical cut differs from the long fashionable waistcoats from the late 17th and early 18th century, but lends itself well to portraying sailors, pirates, workers and other historically inspired characters.
This waistcoat is made of 100% cotton. It is available in the colour black and dark brown.
