This couple earrings is modeled on an English belt fitting in the shape of the Tudor rose, dating from the 16th century.

The Tudor rose combines the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York in one coat of arms. Henry Tudor introduced this symbol after he defeated his rival Richard at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, ending the Thirty Years' War of the Roses between the rival English noble houses of York and Lancaster. By marrying Elizabeth of York, Henry, as king of England, brought both factions together.
