This spindle is a replica of a 10th century original from the Viking period. The spindle is based on an original found in Denmark.
Spindles are used to make yarn from raw wool. This thread is usually dyed and then used for weaving. Spindles were used until the 18th century.
Tip. The surface of this spindle can easily be engraved with a pen or an eating pick. Various archaeological finds from spindles show decorations.
