The sabre is an evolution of the European backsword, a straight, single-edged sword with a basket. It often has a slightly curved blade and a quite large knuckle-guard. Cavalry sabres however were straight and two-edged. Originally a 10th century Hungarian cavalry weapon the sabre had its highlight during the 19th century in the Napoleontic Wars and the American Civil War.This sabre has a length of 117 cm with a blade of 87 cm and a cross-guard of 26 cm.
