15USP button list (product questions)

This spintria is a replica of several originals from the 1st to 3rd century AD. Spintriae are part of i.a. the collections of the Archaeological Museum in Napels, the British Museum in London, the Museum of London and the Römisch Germanisches Museum in Cologne.

Spintriae coins resemble tesserae. Just like the tesserae the back has a number (I up to XVI), presumably to indicate the worth of the coin. But instead of the Roman emperor the front has an erotic image. Possibly the spintriae were used for visiting brothels, but it is not certain.

This spintria is made of dark brass and has a diameter of 20 mm.
