This luna is a replica of a 3rd century original excavated in the Rhine area. Nowadays it is part of the collection of the Landemuseum in Trier. Lunae like this were worn by the Romans between the 1st and 3rd century AD. Later on they were taken over by the Germanic tribes and worn until the 8th century. Lunae like this are excavated all over Europe in a large diversity.
