This Roman fibula is a replica made after several originals. This type of fibula was mainly worn by the Roman / Germanic auxiliae around the period of emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. This type of brooch is frequently excavated in former military encampments. Later on, this type of fibula also became more popular among the Germanic population. An original has been excavated in an Alamannic grave in Gerlachsheim.
