This Roman pouring jug is a replica of several originals from the 1st-2nd century AD. Pouring jugs like this occurred all over the Roman Empire. The Romans had a semi mass production in glass technique. As a result the price of glass became lower and glass was used all over the Roman Empire in a large variety. Glass could be found in essentially all households and shops. Glass pouring jugs like this were used by all classes in society. This pouring jug is completely handmade, using the same techniques as for the original. Turquoise glass was very common in Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. Many glass originals that have been excavated are turquoise.
