Robert the Bruce bascinet

This bascinet is based on the helmet that the Scottish king Robert the Bruce wears on his statue at Bannockburn. This legendary Scottish war king was the only Scottish king who knew how to overcome the Norman and Gaelic (Gall Gael) cultural differences and he freed Scotland from English reign after a long and bloody war of independence. Robert the Bruce's campaign did not end here, he also recaptured the Isle of Man from the English and he started a second campaign in Ireland.
This type of helmet was used all over Europe during his time. There is no 100% proof, but it is very well possible that the Bruce wore a helmet like this. This helmet has a crown and a coif.
